Why do paintballs hurt

Getting dressed in tactical clothing and stepping onto the battlefield causes an extra dose of adrenaline. The question, however, that most people have when they are considering playing the great sport of paintball is:.

Manufactures design high-quality paintballs not to break in the gun and to break on impact easily. Therefore, lower quality paintballs will often hurt worse when you get hit when compared to higher quality ones. For example, a shot to the back where there are less muscle and fat is going to hurt worse than a shot to the stomach. Also, any paintball you take to your bare skin is going to hurt worse than if the shot is to a covered portion of your body. While it may not hurt to get hit the first time, if you continue to get hit in that spot, you may start to feel more pain.

However, in general, unless you get hit point blank on your bare skin, then the answer is simply no. The reason for that is because getting hit in the face, or worse the eye, is not only extremely painful but can be dangerous as well. A shot to the eye can cause your eye to swell, burst your eye socket, or worse, cause you to go blind in that eye. If you find that you get shot an excessive amount of times, it may be wise to change up your playing style and strategy. Bare skin shots can be painful, especially if they are close range, and the two spots people often forget about are their hands and their neck.

Facemasks and helmets are essential, and your paintball facility probably requires you to wear them. In addition to the neck and the hands, the top of your head and your thighs are also sensitive areas. Following the safety guidelines will, at least, prevent you from getting hit more than once. If you are playing on an official field, the rules will be explained to you before the match. They will tell you what constitutes a hit and what to do once you are hit. This usually involves shouting out that you are hit and walking off the field with your hands in the air.

Doing this should prevent others from shooting at you again. Alternatively, if you are playing with friends on an unofficial field, make sure that everybody discusses the rules and agrees to them. Lastly, just make sure you keep yourself in a strategic position. That means avoiding being out in the open or avoiding exposing a certain part of your body.

Long sleeve tops and a good pair of socks will also help and you may also want to wear gloves — the more exposed flesh you can cover-up, the better.

All of our players are equipped with overalls, helmets and goggles, ensuring that most of the body is covered. We limit the speed at which the guns fire paintballs, too, as they are capable of going much faster and hurting more! Most airsoft guns fire small plastic pellets, or BBs, and tend to travel faster than paintballs, delivering a nasty sting when shot. As the surface area of the paintball is bigger, it does tend to result in a harder impact, however, the paintball is travelling slower, therefore, exerting less pressure.

Does it hurt more for children? Younger players will always be matched with similar age groups and carry less powerful rifles, this adaptation allows children to enjoy the game just as much as the big kids.
