Can you pivot after a hop step

This is perfectly legal. What is illegal is if: LeBron takes a giant leap, lands on two feat, then pivots around one of those feet before jumping for the layup. The player has already taken the two step the initial leap, and then when both 2 feet land on the ground, that's the 2nd step.

LeBron traveled on that play, and he didn't even pivot. He took a step, then hopped, which counts as another 2 steps. One way to differentiate between a jump stop and hop step is when passing the ball. Imagine you're the point guard and feeding the ball to the post.

You dribble to the wing pick up your dribble, plant both feet However, before you could even pass the ball your defender pressures you, you pivot to protect the ball and pass near the half court line. Not a travel. Page 3 of 4 First 1 2 3 4 Last Jump to page:. All times are GMT The time now is PM. Powered by vBulletin Version 4. Register Help Remember Me? User Info: BrownBearKing. Idk about the gather thing. But It looked like you took a hop step but landed on your 2 feet separately.

Which is a travel, both feet have to land at the same time. User Info: syilo. That's definitely a hop step. And the move in the video is definitely a travel. His first two steps are his "gather," then he hop steps and then switches pivot feet and takes off on his other foot. Not very debatable.

BrownBearKing posted This is especially important when learning the hop step. Just like the Euro step, hop steps can be done with and without the shot stick. The first way is to tap the shoot button while driving to the basket. Easy enough. The second way is to hold the shot stick diagonally down left or down right while driving to the basket. This time, the first option is easier.

Show less… The hop step, sometimes called the pro hop, is a combination of the euro step and jump-stop. Im a basketball coach for the past 4years now at a good level. Wish more kids knew how to do it. Helps you become more under control and all types of basketball ways.

Really you pick up your dribble mid air. Therefore you can establish any pivot. That's how I take it. I always though.. I guess I was wrong..

Such an awkward looking move. I thought the landing on two feet part counted as two steps. Knowing its not a travel should help my up and under game though. That's a missed call. They didn't miss it.
